You know those warm fuzzy feelings that you feel when learning of a good deed that one of your kids have performed? I got that feeling last night, when I saw a little note in Marlie's backpack. Here is what it looked like:
It says: "Dear Marlie,
Thank you for being there for me and helping me with Jesus."
I was gushing with pride! My daughter had shared Jesus with another classmate. Another small affirmation of our good parenting, right? Any little positive indication that we are doing our job as Christian parents is a thrill!
I called Marlie into the kitchen to applaud her efforts to share Jesus with a friend. After I spent five minutes talking about how proud I was and encouraged her to keep it up, I noticed that she looked confused. I showed her the note after she asked what I was talking about. She rolled her eyes, "Mom...this says 'and for helping me with Jesus' (pronounced Hay-Seuss.) I helped her with a boy problem." My stomach sank a little but I did not want her to see my disappointment. I managed a "Good job anyway, honey!"
Pride goeth before the pronunciation.

...but still absolutely adoreable! She was still using her Christ-like attitude towards her friend!
