I refuse to be a condiment!

Daniel and I are going to a Halloween party on Nov 1st. This will be the first time we've gone out anywhere...together...alone...to an adult event, in a long, long time. So yes, it is a huge deal to me. Plus, I get to dress up which brings out my inner child! Daniel, however, is not one to dress up in costumes. In fact...he down right hates it. Never the less, this is a costume party and I insisted that we find a cute couples costume. We sat down and went through possibilities. This was how it went:

D: Ugh...I'm not wearing anything spandex or gay looking.
K: Fine. How about pirates?
D: Nope. Too gay.
K: What? Johnny Depp is a pirate and he looks hot!
D: ...in a gay kind of way.
K: Fine. What do you want us to be?
(He scrolls through the pages and finds the one he wants.)
D: This is it! I will be a hot dog.
K: What? We won't match!
D: Yes, we will.
K: I am not being a giant bottle of mustard!!
D: I didn't say that.
K: So what am I going to be?
D: Ketchup.
K: Oh hell no! This is the one time I get to be something cute and I'm not wasting it in a ketchup costume!
D: Ok...how about Bert and Ernie.
K: NO!!! I want to be something cute!
D: Fine. I will be a hot dog and you can be whatever you want. But everyone will know what I am and nobody will know what you are.
K: Yes, they will know that you're a giant weenie.

LOL....first of all Daniel...Johnny Dep IS COOL...and NOT in a Gay kind of way..lol. Going as a giant hot dog IS Gay...and I think you and Kadi should be Dog The Bounty Hunter and his lovely wife...Beth...lol...that is my dream, but Sherm isn't one for dressing up either. Can't wait to see the pics. Maybe he could be Hello Kitty...lol!

So do what Cherokee and I are going to do.... He vito'd everything I said until I said Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio... Nothing like a man getting to dress up as some kinda sports thing...I can hear the manly grunt now! :) (plus he was excited about the whole Marilyn Monroe dress, blonde wig, and mole- can we say DORK?!?!?) :) Hope you have fun!

Kadi,
We go out alomost every yr with a group of friends for hallowwen dress up parties and it is SO fun...but one of my favorite years was when we all went as FLAPPERS and the guys were the "mobsters".
We just went to avintage store and got a sparkley little dress,a feather head band and a bowa(SP?).

For the guys black dress pants and a cheap white button up shirt..then went to a party store and got the black hat and suspenders...of course they needed to have a cigar to make it complete!
It was so fun and we all won a big prize that night and really didn't spend much!!
Good luck...I can't wait to hear what you decide on!
(sorry for the long post) :0)

Haha!

We were pirates last year, it was manly. My dh grew a beard and acted like an animal, he enjoyed it.

I'd give just about anything to be able to do a dress up party but I married the ultimate stick in the mud! The closest he gets is taking the kids trick ot treating around the neighborhood. Whatever you go as, have loads of fun! There's always the caveman/woman drill!

Just started reading your blog today. Have to say I LOVE it! Tell your hubby a hot dog is NOT cool...its what my 4 mth old is going as (and I'm decorated his stroller as a vending cart) and my two big kids are going as a football player and a cheerleader! But a grown man going as a hotdog and making his wife be a bottle of ketchup???? Tell him no way and that you are going to dress up as something totally sexy and "roleplay" w/ him later that night!!!! I'm sure that will make him see the light!!!!

I have read your blog for a few months, and LOVE it! I just had to break down and post a comment. My favorite Halloween costumes for my hubby and I were when I was a "Brick House" and he was a "Brick Layer". I bought a costume online and he just wore something from his closet and we made him a little nametag and he had some brick laying tools. It was the first time he didn't mind dressing up.

HAHA Kadi I am arguing with Paul too! He wants to be a boxer, and wants me to be a lady boxer too. His reasoning is that it would be "sexy as hell" but I don't see wearing chucks and gym shorts as sexy I want to be a witch damnit! Like on Mean Girls, doesn't he know Halloween is all about getting to dress like a slut?
