The Toe That's Hurty Is Not Too Purdy!

We sat up almost all night last night. If you are wondering why, then read the previous post. It will explain everything. I think there were two times that Ella passed out for an hour. Other than that, she writhed in pain, complained of her stomach aching and asked me to scratch her toe. Finally, I put a bandaid on, to appease her and she fell asleep. That was at 5 am.

We awoke at 6:30 to her crying. She had broken out in a fever and I was at my wits end. I considered taking her into the ER at 1:30, but my husband instsed that I was overreacting. This morning, I took the bandaid off and proved to him that I was clearly not overreacting:

What started out as a red, swollen, hurty toe had become an infected mess (within hours.) We are headed to the doctor's office this morning to figure out what is wrong.

I may be an insect bite...Possibly from a Red Ant...I only say that because the same thing happened to me when I was in Jr. High...It was a Itchy, Swollen, Puss filled, & infected Red Ant bite. It looked a lot like Ella's toe but not nearly as bad.

I hope she's feeling better soon.

OMG! How awful!!!! How did it get to looking like that? I think your other blogger is right, it might be an allergic reaction to a bug bite. Evan is allergic to mosquito bites.

Anxious to hear what IS going on with that toe.....

Looks like a bite, maybe in the mean-time do a compress, poke it with a sterile needle to get the puss out...sounds gross but that is what I would do....poor Ella....

Be careful!

Please let us know what happens re the toe.

I would have taken her to the ER at 1 AM. My husband would have been mad at me.

It definitely looks like it needs to be drained -- and is extremely painful.

Poor baby.

I am on antibiotics right now for a very similar thing. Poor baby. Hope she's better soon.
I stay up late at night still with my manchild cuz of his hurty head. Us moms worry forever.

That looks so sore. Poor baby. My first thought was maybe a spider bite or something. I hope she's fine and look forward to reading the update.
